Lembeh Strait

Lembeh is not a pretty reef. It is a narrow strait of black sand and rubble, and that is precisely what makes it the most extraordinary place on earth to look for animals. Almost everything that hides on a sea floor lives here.

It is a divers' destination, not a beach destination. You go because you want to see a hairy frogfish or a wonderpus, and nothing else in the world matches the strike rate.

Most resorts run three boat dives daily, often in the same handful of bays. Repetition is the method — the more you look, the more you see.
