Flights
Sulawesi has two main international gateways and a busy network of domestic hops between them. Most trips start by routing through Jakarta, Bali, or Singapore.
Where to land
Makassar (UPG) on the south coast and Manado (MDC) on the north tip are the two international entry points. Both have direct flights from Singapore; Bali and Jakarta connect to either.
Hopping the island
Wings Air, Lion Air, Citilink, and Garuda fly between Makassar, Palu, Kendari, Manado, Luwuk, and a handful of smaller strips. Schedules shift — book the inland legs once your dates are firm.
How to plan it
If you only see one half of the island, fly into the gateway nearest your route. Crossing by land is slow; flying Makassar–Manado in two hours beats two long days of road and ferry.
