What is it like sleeping in a Tongkonan village homestay?
You will stay as a guest of a local Torajan family. Facilities are simple, comfortable, and clean, offering authentic local hospitality, home-cooked meals, and an immersive look into daily village life.
Will we be able to see a funeral ceremony (Rambu Solo')?
Torajan funeral ceremonies are traditional events hosted by family clans and do not run on fixed tourist schedules. If a ceremony is taking place during your visit, your local guide will make arrangements to attend respectfully.
Is the trekking difficult?
The light trekking around Batutumonga is soft to moderate, following dirt paths through rice terraces and pine slopes with gentle incline suitable for most fitness levels.
